Notes from the Pews
We have had the funerals of 3 people recently. Ruth Lloyd-Maggs,
who lived in the village and whose maiden name was Ruth Pearson,
died after a long illness and Joan Lewis, who was a long
established St Swithin's member died swiftly followed within a
week by her husband Des Lewis.
We have received the gift of a tree to replace the cherry tree
which was blown down some months ago, near the lower church
entrance.
The Youth Club, "Refresh", which meets in the Memorial Institute
every Friday evening, continues to grow under the leadership of
the newly appointed Youth Worker, Pete Collins. Pete was
appointed for a 3 year period and is shared with the churches in
Hampton in Arden and Balsall Common.
St Swithins has just completed an “Alpha course” for enquirers
into “The meaning of life” and reaches out to the village with
it’s “Say one for me” house to house visitation to help with the
prayer needs of those visited.
Preparations are under way for the forthcoming St Swithin’s
Weekend July 11-13th, when there will be special flower
festivals in the church, the much appreciated Arts and Crafts
event in the Memorial Institute and outdoor events in St
Swithin’s House. |
